LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton married at Westminster Abbey on Friday in a royal occasion of dazzling pomp and pageantry that has attracted a huge global audience and injected new life into the monarchy. Will Prince William and Kate Outdo Prince Charles and Diana?
Prince William is no "Prince Charles", and Kate Middleton is no 'Princess Diana'.
But not in a way you may think.
Where will Kate Middleton's wedding dress rate?
Per Britain's Sun, some 3 billion hopeless romantics will tune in William and Kate's nuptials on Friday—and, in the process, leave Charles and Diana's wedding in the dust.
Even when population differentials are considered, the Sun's incredibly optimistic guesstimate has William and Kate running circles around the groom's parents.
An audience of 3 billion would mean a staggering 44 percent of the globe's 6.8 billion tuned in the kids. In 1981, the Charles and Di shindig, said to have been watched by 750 million, captured 17 percent of the world's then-4.5 billion. more

Gay marriage activists ask William and Kate for support
Gay rights activists are calling on Prince William and Kate Middleton to "express their support" for same-sex marriage, according to reports.
Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell delivered a gigantic wedding card to Buckingham Palace which, according to the website of Chicago Gay Pride, read: "Congratulations William and Kate on your Wedding Day. We wish you a happy life together. You can get married, gay people can't. We are banned by law. We ask you to support marriage equality. Equal=Love."

Royal wedding: A millennium of marriages (Prince William to Kate Middleton)
It is said that at the wedding of the Prince of Wales – the future King Edward VII – to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863, a royal personage from a German statelet looked at all the Saxe-Coburg-Gothas around her at the wedding breakfast at Windsor Castle, turned to her son and asked: “Tell me: who are all these low people?”
We can be sure that such old-world hauteur will be absent from next Friday’s more demotic celebrations of the royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. We must hope, too, that the marriage of our future king and queen will be less troubled than poor Alexandra of Denmark’s was. more

Prince William takes Kate to visit Princess Diana's grave
Prince William took bride-to-be Kate Middleton to the grave of his mum, Princess Diana, where they are believed to have laid some flowers.
Prince William has also honoured the memory of his mother by using her blue sapphire engagement ring to propose to Miss Middleton.
After the engagement was announced, he said: 'It's my mother's engagement ring so I thought it was quite nice because obviously she's not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all - this was my way of keeping her close to it all.' more
