Controversy reigned supreme yesterday when Ana Raffali’s Tolong Ingatkan Aku was named Song of The Year. The angry audience booed the winner and water bottles were hurled onto the stage at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil, venue for the 25th Anugerah Juara Lagu competition.
TV3’s Twitter account at @tv3malaysia and the event hashtag at #ajl25 were flooded with complaints from disgruntled viewers.
However, head of jury M. Nasir defended the decision to pick Ana.
“It’s not a popularity contest and we selected the song based on the personal touch that was injected into the melody and lyrics. We stand by our choice and we stand by Ana’s win,” said Nasir.
Ana seemed unfazed and smiled despite the uproar and said she was happy the jury had sided with her composition.
“I am glad the jury unanimously selected my song and believed in my talent," she said.
“It is an honour and a momentous occasion for me.” more news
