#MH370: Chinese celebs lash out at Malaysia over MH370

A number of big-name celebrities in China, including award-winning actress Zhang Ziyi, have hit out at Malaysia's handling of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Several celebrities took to Weibo - a Shanghai-based Twitter-like microblogging service – to condemn Malaysia and urge a boycott of Malaysian products.

"The Malaysian government has offended the world! We are looking for the airplane but you are more concerned about timing.

"Malaysian government, today you have done wrong. You are wrong failing to take responsibility. You are wrong for prioritising political manoeuvres instead of respecting life.

"You are wrong for failing to respect the universal.. quest for truth," wrote Zhang on March 25, 17 days MH370 went missing and a day after Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak revealed that the plane went down in the Indian Ocean.

Among the 239 people on board MH370 were 152 Chinese nationals. One of them was Jo Kun, who was once Zhang's fight choreographer.

In an apparent attempt to stem the anger and distrust in China, Malaysian officials have also met the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang to ask for the Chinese government to engage and help clarify the situation to the bereaved relatives and the public.

“Malaysia is working hard to try and make the briefings to the Chinese relatives in Beijing more productive,” read a statement sent out by the Transport Ministry today.

The government will do everything that we have to do with a full sense of duty."

Jackie Chan dismisses controversial photos

Jackie Chan recently dismissed controversy over photos showing his overly friendly behaviour with Chinese singer, Song Zuying.

As reported on South China Morning Post, the actor, who made an appearance at a press conference to announce his upcoming birthday concert, stated that the controversy was no more than the media's tendency to make things up out of nothing.

The said photos, which had been circulated online, was of Jackie acting friendly with the singer during an art and culture group meeting at the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) last week.

The actor was photographed putting his hand on Song's shoulder, bending over with his face close to the singer, and then nuzzling cheek to cheek with Song, who was smiling at his gesture.

The photos triggered much criticism from Netizens, who accused Jackie of flirting with the singer. Some even slammed the actor for acting inappropriately at a political conference.

"I am friendly and affectionate," said Jackie. "So I was a bit amazed that people reacted so strongly towards the photos."

"I was behind her that day. She turned her head, saw who I was and said, "Oh, it's you". I have always been this way. It's just this time around, someone took some photos and published it," said the actor, while re-enacting the gesture with the press conference host, Chun Ni.

He then looked at the host and jokingly added, "Do you want to be in the headlines?"
